If you wish to post this in your journal, it's been requested that you title it I'm afraid of __ out of 72 common fears.

If you get more than 30, I strongly recommend some counseling.
If you get more than 20, you're paranoid.
If you get 10-20, you are normal.
If you get 10 or less, you're fearless.
People who don't have any are liars.

Oh wow, haha. I'm actually paranoid.
Hmm. I think it would have been easier to class mine simply by "non-human organic creatures", "my own mortality", and "failure". With a little misanthropy thrown in. And claustrophobia, I guess. Even so, that's still only five things, but with many subsets.

Hmm. I probably have like two of these, when thinking somewhat seriously. Time to smash them. ^_^

Good list for thinking about what one is really scared of, in order to think about the fears more rationally and stop being scared of them.

Bad list for privacy.

You're too privacy obsessed. Everyone knows I don't like these things anyway. And why should I care? What's going to happen, I'll get a dog in the mail?

Plus, I think I have good reason for being afraid of each of them. They're not, imao, irrational fears.

I didn't say you shouldn't do it. :P I'm a lot less private on the web than you are. I'm just noting that it's a fact that they contain this flaw, that's all.

In general, it seems to me that fears are a bad idea unless you need the adrenaline to run away or fight or something. What other situations might they be a good idea?

You're not sociable? What do you mean by this? You seem pretty sociable to me.

Yeah, the list doesn't work so well if you've got a general fear of animals and stuff.

I agree with Lulie that probably most fears would be a bad idea. I think most would be irrational as well. Even if something is dangerus and should be avoided, it'd be better not to have a fear about it, so you can deal with it better.
Maybe if you're rational about dealing with fears it's not so bad. But it'd still be best to not have them.

Also, you're afraid of large crowds of people? What about all the events we've been to? Those are some pretty big crowds.
:iconseien-24:
Isn't that sort of a null statement, then? <_<

:iconseien-24:
If something is worth being afraid of, of course. For example, mortality is a good thing to fear. It's frightening, inherently. If we're not afraid of it, even worse, we may lack the drive to fix it.

:iconseien-24:
No, I'm not? Okay, here's how it goes: I talk to people a lot online but that's a totally different affair. And IRL I can adopt certain rules, like being witty in a certain way, and using certain facial expressions, and ignoring my dislike of dealing with other people IRL, for short periods of time. It's not a conscious thing each expression or witty comment, it's a mindset. But it tires and stresses me out, so I don't like doing it and only do so if I either have to, or if I think it's worth it - meeting people I don't meet in a long time, or going out to get food, toys or books, etc.

Well, I tend to run from insects and avoid letting animals and plants touch me on instinct (ie out of control), but I think I have good reason for doing that anyway - they're fucking disgusting. :P

Again, mindset. Also often in those events I've been in character as Raikov. :P So I discard certain things in favour of others. (Still stresses me out afterwards though. And I don't like it and would rather not do it.)
